You Still Don't Like to Leave Before the End of the Movie...

Since I went all "reading is fundamental" on you guys (especially with fangirl-like squeeage over a series most of you haven't heard of), here's a little game of the regular fangirl variety...

  • Go to IMDB.com and look up 10 of your favorite movies and TV shows.
  • Post three official IMDB "Plot Keywords" for these 10 picks.
  • Have your friends guess the film and show names.

These are in no particular order, and may be canceled or long-forgotten (by everyone but me). Gonna screen comments for a day - if anyone gets them all in either category for the person who gets the most correct answers in each category, I will bow before you and write a chapter or ficlet of your choice.

And a rather pointless Movie Meme.

1. Name a movie that you have seen more than 10 times.
The Princess Bride. Probably the most times I've seen anything, ever. (Though there was that yearlong period when I watched Some Kind of Wonderful at least once a week. What can I say? I loved Eric Stoltz. I love him still.)

2. Name a movie that you've seen multiple times in the theater.
The Devil's Advocate. Couldn't get enough.

3. Name an actor that would make you more inclined to see a movie.
Just one? I'm dreaming up my vast DVD collection (I have entire rows dedicated to my Actors Studios - Bale, Depp, Damon, Gyllenhaal, Spacey, Harris, McGregor, Embry, Travolta - and my rapidly growing collections - Cole Hauser, Mark Wahlberg, Joaquin Phoenix, Patrick Wilson, Clive Owen, Paul Giamatti, Terrance Howard, Giovanni Ribisi, Jeffrey Wright.) But my go-to guy, Edward Norton, could make me see anything. Pay to see it, even.

4. Name an actor that would make you less likely to see a movie.
Leonardo Dicaprio. I held out on The Departed because, well... I sort of think he's the AntiChrist.

5. Name a movie that you can quote from.
I can quote every line of Jerry Maguire. And since I loathe Tom Cruise in general, that's saying something.

6. Name a movie musical that you know all the lyrics to all the songs.
Rent. And I really hate that "Halloween" and the full "Goodbye Love" scene ended up on the cutting room floor. Not to mention the "Roger does Bon Jovi" thing going on during "What You Own." Bah.

7. Name a movie that you have been known to sing along with.
The Wedding Singer. George steps up to the mic, and I warble "do you really want to hurt meeee..." with him every time.

8. Name a movie that you would recommend everyone see.
Hard Candy. Just blows my mind.

9. Name a movie that you own.
Dutch. They hadn't released it on DVD, so I paid some insane price for a VHS copy (one of reportedly 200 or so) on eBay years ago. Worth every penny.

10. Name an actor that launched his/her entertainment career in another medium but who has surprised you with his/her acting chops.
Here's me thinking of Dave Matthews' House ep. Heh. Uhhh... I've gotta hop on the Marky Mark bandwagon here. Kid's just amazing.

11. Have you ever seen a movie in a drive-in? If so, what?
We used to go with disturbing frequency. I remember seeing The Lost World as my last drive-in feature - and "seeing" is relative. That is not a movie for the out of doors, dark as it is. When we were kids, my sister and I stayed up past the "put the kids to sleep" break and ended up traumatizing ourselves with The Fly. Last time we did that.

12. Ever made out in a movie?
Spider-man. I was bored.

13. Name a movie that you keep meaning to see but just haven't gotten around to it.
Brick. Yes, I know I'm sad.

14. Ever walked out of a movie?
Nearly walked out on Closer (though, since plucking it out of a bargain bin to add to my Clive collection, I've started to see it in a new light). The last thing I remember leaving after paying good money was The Brothers - the projector was shot, and the skip every few frames was aggravating as hell.

15. Name a movie that made you cry in the theater.
The end of 50 First Dates made me teary (don't laugh, I blame the song). Sugar made me bawl.

16. Popcorn?
Nope. Pretzel bites FTW.

17. How often do you go to the movies (as opposed to renting them or watching them at home)?
We're boring now (damn you, work and bills and family drama!). I'd say we see maybe eight to ten a year.

18. What's the last movie you saw in the theater?
300. AKA "Spartans never retreat, Spartans never surrender! Spartans are born and bred to fight to the death in billowing crimson capes and glorified gold diapers!" Yeah, loved it.

19. What's your favorite/preferred genre of movie?
Either dark, gritty dramas, in the Machinist and American History X vein, or dark comedy noir (think Clay Pigeons, American Psycho, or 2 Days in the Valley). So... dark. But funny. And with the grit.

20. What's the first movie you remember seeing in the theater?
The Little Mermaid. I have no clue why I can't remember anything before that.

21. What movie do you wish you had never seen?
Oh, that's tough. Right now, it's gotta be The Black Dahlia, which is hellbent on putting me to sleep each and every time I try to finish it. But overall... probably Devour. Even with the all Jensen pretty, I want to scrub that movie from my brain with an SOS pad.

22. What is the weirdest movie you enjoyed?
Hmmm. I'm weird, so I don't think my judgement is entirely accurate. Probably Donnie Darko, which I love.

23. What is the scariest movie you've seen?
Ever? The Peanut Butter Solution. It haunts me to this day. Plus, did anybody else have the weird mass reaction that 99% of people seem to have with this movie? Saw it as a kid. Traumatized to the point of recurring nightmares. Blocked it from your mind for years, until you tried to remember what it was as a teenager and came up with zilch. Told by parents or grandparents or much older siblings that such a movie never existed, only to find out that it does, and that there are droves of others who've had the same experience. (In my case - and my sister's as well - once I found it, I bought a copy. Haven't watched it. Doubt I ever will watch it. But I had to have it.) I think it's subliminal messages, people. Freaky.

24. What is the funniest movie you've seen?
Childstar. We cracked up the whole way through. It's utterly hilarious.

Tagging everybody, because I'm nosy.
