(And by "year", I mean 07 and 08. Partly because I didn't do one last year, but mostly because I wasn't all that prolific in either, fic-wise, and the 2008 list looked even sadder than this.)
Riding the Crave
Smallville, Chloe, Clark, Jimmy.
A day in the life… Trying to swim against the current, Chloe might be doomed to drown.
This Woman's Work
Grey’s Anatomy, Miranda Bailey.
The nature of sacrifice… No one ever said being the breadwinner was easy.
Daydream Believer (For All the Waking World)
Supernatural, Dean/Carmen, Sam.
The sting of the salt and heat of the burn. When you’re haunted inside your own head, is there any way to set the spirit free?
In This Late Hour
Smallville, Chloe (Bart, AC, Victor, Oliver).
The clock is ticking, the stakes are rising, and they haven’t blown a mission yet. She could be in real trouble this time.
All Bets Are Off
Smallville, Oliver, Chloe, prequel to In This Late Hour.
She's not making this easy. Luckily, he never could resist a challenge.
And Justice For All
Smallville, Oliver/Chloe, sequel to All Bets Are Off and In This Late Hour.
A hero’s trial is only as worthy as the price of winning and cost of losing.
Requiem (Casualties of the Human Condition)
Supernatural / Sarah Connor Chronicles, Ellison, Henrikson.
Soldiers on strange battlefields, and the only ones playing by the rules.
Of All Our Yesterdays (Sunrise, Sunset)
The Black Dagger Brotherhood, Phury, Vishous, Zsadist, Butch, et al.
What’s been taken, what’s been forsaken, and all that is left.
Man, is that paltry. I keep having to remind myself that I did a spec pilot and a novel this year, and wasn't as lazy as this list would imply. Entirely.
Writing resolutions for 2009 - actually write. Complete WIPs at the top of the pile (And Justice For All, Walk the Edge, Stir of Echoes, Fumbling Towards Ecstasy). Repost the bulk of fic to LJ, since PA has imploded. Stop titling in parentheticals. Adapt Harmony into the hourlong dramedy it was meant to be. Embrace the blasphemy and start When the Pawn. Let go of old bunnies that will never be. Quit writing for fandoms you hate (this means you, Smallville - Chloe can live on with the Winchester boys). Explore more unung characters and tiny/unloved/off-the-beaten-path fandoms. Try a cracktastic crossover. Experiment. Finish.
